The purpose of the Farmington Girls Fastpitch Association (FGFA) is to promote the growth and development of the sport of fastpitch softball for girls residing within the boundary area of Independent School District 192.

6 and Under league – For girls ages 4-6 as of January 1 of the current year.
The 6U League focuses on learning to hit off a tee, the proper way to address the ball and the proper way to swing the bat. Players will work on identifying base positions and field positions.
Level of play – beginner
Season – Mid May to Mid July

Days of the week: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:15pm-6:15pm
All games/practices are held at Farmington Elementary
Registration fee includes t-shirt; Each girl needs to have her own helmet and glove. Bats are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Helmet Cages are not required, but strongly recommended for safety.
8 and Under league – For girls ages 6-8 as of January 1 of the current year.
The 8U League focuses on building on the skills developed at the 6U level, developing fielding skills and learning the rules of fastpitch softball.

Season – Mid May to Mid July

Days of the week: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm
All games/practices are held at Farmington Elementary

Summer Rec League Softball – ages 8-12
10 and Under-Rec League – For girls ages 8-10 as of January 1 of the current year.
12 and Under-Rec League – For girls ages 11-12 as of January 1 of the current year.
The 10U-C & 12U-Rec Leagues offer a program to players who want to advance their skills and play the game of softball without the commitment of weekend tournaments. Teams will play double header games against other area teams.
The 10U-Rec & 12U-Rec Leagues play no weekend tournaments
Season – mid April through the end of June
Registration open – Feb 1st to March 25, 2011
10U-Rec will have games on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
12U-Rec will have games on Mondays and/or Wednesdays
Teams will have the option of practice on an alternative day
Registration fee does not include uniform; Each girl needs to provide her own black shorts, helmet (with cage) and glove. Bats are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Summer Travel Softball – ages 8-16
The traveling program is intended to provide an opportunity for the highly motivated and skilled players to compete against teams of similar commitment. Tryouts are held to determine teams.
10U & 12U tryouts are held at the end of Feb; teams are announced and practice begins in March
Double Header games begin the beginning of May:
10U – Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
12U – Mondays and/or Wednesdays
Teams will practice on alternate days to be determined by the coach
Coaches and the traveling committee will determine which tournaments to enter; 10U will participate in 1 tournament plus our home tournament and the 12U will participate in 2 tournaments plus our home tournament. Teams will have the option to participate in additional tournaments at the parents expense.
10U & 12U players must play within their age level.
Uniforms are not included with registration
14U & 16U tryouts are held in August of the prior year; teams are announced following tryouts and have the opportunity to practice together in the off season.
Double Header games begin end of May or beginning of June;
14U – Tuesdays and Thursdays
16U – Mondays and Wednesdays
Coaches and the traveling committee will determine which tournaments to enter; teams will participate in 3 tournaments. Teams will have the option to participate in additional tournaments at the parents expense.
Requests to play up from the 14U and 16U level will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the traveling committee.
Uniforms are not included in registration.
Fall Ball – ages 8-16
FGFA offers an opportunity for girls to continue to play ball in our fall league. Fall ball is open to all girls ages 8-16. Double-header games are held on Sunday afternoons. Practice times will be determined by the coach based on players’ availability. This is a short season and is a great way to learn more about the game, gain experience playing fastpitch and introduce your daughter to our travel leagues!
