What is Fall Traveling Volleyball?
This is an introduction to competitive volleyball for girls who will be in grades 5th and 6th for the upcoming school year. This program is intended for girls who have played and also for those who have never played. The focus is on teaching skills in a fun environment. Games on Mondays, practices are on Thursdays at Riverview Elementary.
How big are the teams?
Ideally, we would like 10 girls per team.
Are there tryouts?
That depends on the number of girls that register. Our preference would be to not cut anyone. The number of available coaches and gym time, plus the number of registrants will determine the number of teams. If you are cut from the Traveling program, you are invited to play in the in-house league.
Who coaches?
We have one head coach that oversees the league & also helps train the parent volunteer coahces.
Can parents coach?
Yes, we will provide a training seesion to help anyone interested in learning the sport.
Where do they play?
The travel league has teams from several communities south of the river. Matches will be played at league member schools. In-house will play at Riverview, with the possibility of play at a near-by school
What does the fee pay for?
The head coaches, gym time, league membership and a shirt.
Is any special equipment required?
Players need to provide black shorts, preferably spandex, white knee pads and a good pair of athletic shoes. We prefer that their shoes not be worn outside, if possible.
What is Fall In-House?
This is a new program we are starting this year for girls in 3rd - 6th grade. This league will be Tuesday nights from 6 - 8 at Riverview Elementary. Practice and skill development for the first hour, game play the second hour. We are working with other local communities to offer games with their in-house teams as well. More details to come. This registration will end on August 26th. Contact Sherie with questions. gumby7369@gmail.com
