The FHS Boys Lacrosse team is sponsoring a Bingo at Celts Pub on May 19th at 2pm.
Please come out and help support the Farmington High School Varsity Boys Lacrosse team at their Bingo Fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the FHS Boys Lacrosse program.
Our Salt and Mulch Fundraiser was very successful this spring; especially for the teams that had set a fundraising goal.
We added Mulch this year from Country Stone and it was pretty successful. I know some customers really loved having mulch delivered to their homes. The quality of the mulch was very good.
We also chose to stay with Mortons Softener Salt which is the premium brand product. We had the option of going wtih a brand that is more comonly sold at gas stations. We could have lowered our prices with a lower brand but decided to keep the good stuff with our fundraiser to help get repeat sales, and it's a differentiator.
If you have any comments about the fundraiser, our pricing, the product selection, or the pickup and delivery process; please send a note to Marc Jolicoeur. The feedback will go into decisions that are made next year.
RESULTS
We ordered 120,000 pounds of product and it came in 3 semi trailer loads. We sold 3000 units of product.
High School Boys raised total proceeds of $3,816 or $93 per player. The boys had set of GOAL of selling 40 units of product each. Many boys attained thier goal in 2.5 hours of selling and enlisting their parents help in selling to friends and neighbors.
High School Girls raised total proceeds of $1,964 or $61 per player. The girls did not do as well as the boys because they did not set a goal or quota and many did not enlist thier parents to help.
Youth lacrose players raised proceeds of $1,789. Unfortunately, there were only 40 lacrosse families who took this fundraiser seriously. This is only 50% participation. We will work next spring to increase this participation rate.
The great thing about this fundraiser is that after a few years of selling you will get many repeat customers. Like the Boy Scouts selling Christmas wreaths, Lacrosse players sell salt and everyone in the community is finding out about it.
After establishing your customers, they become repeat customers every year. And as we have email addresses, you wil get some orders without trying. As your lacrosse player moves from youth into high school, your customers come along wtih you.
Thank You
Sam O'Reilly of Shamrock Lawn Services deserves a big thank you once again for allowing us to use his yard as a distribution location. Sam also did a lot of the research and ordering the product. If you need lawn and landscaping work done I would suggest you give Sam a call.
Lance Betzold and Duane Block Trucking donated truck and time to cart three semi loads of product to Farmington. If we had to pay full retail prices for shipping, this would cut into our profits.
Pellici Ace Hardware became our source for Mortons Salt at a good rate. Thank You.
Due to the great winter and spring weather we have been cleared to start using our fields two weeks early this year. ALL practices have been moved to the FHS Fields.
Even Boys have thier home fields at FHS this year.
No practices will be held at Dodge Middle School.
It's now law in Minnesota that if young athletes show signs of a concussion, coaches must sideline them until they can get a medical all-clear.
A concussion is a brain injury caused by a bump or blow to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Even what seems to be a mild bump or blow to the head can be serious.
To help ensure the health and safety of our young athletes, the Centers for Disease Control developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.
The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion
Return-To-Play Policy
If an athlete is removed from play because they are showing signs or symptoms of a concussion, Minnesota's Concussion Law requires they receive written authorization from a medical professional to return to play. Please provide a doctor's note to your head coach, once your athlete has been cleared.
