FREE TRY WRESTLING CLINIC: Farmington Youth Wrestling will be hosting a FREE clinic for kids who are interested in wrestling who have never wrestled before. This clinic will be held from 6:30-7:15pm November 1, 2nd, and 3rd in the Farmington High School wrestling room.
TINY TUSSLER: This program is for wrestlers in grades Pre-K through 1st Grade. A TINY TUSSLER will learn wrestling basics in an environment that fosters his or her emerging athleticism through wrestling, gymnastics, and playful competitive games. The cost for the 7 week session is only $60 and includes an end of season pizza party and IN-HOUSE tournament. Practice will be held on Mondays from 6-6:45pm in the Farmington High School wrestling room.
BEGINNER: This program is for wrestlers in 2nd through 5th Grades with 0-2 years of experience. A BEGINNER will start working on the foundations of wrestling and athletic development at an easy to learn pace based on having fun while learning wrestling. The cost for this 11 week session is $80. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7pm in the Farmington High School wrestling room. In addition to practices, BEGINNER wrestlers will participate in skill-based tournaments.
ADVANCED: This program is for wrestlers in 2nd through 5th Grades with more than 2 years of experience that are ready for more intense training and instruction. An ADVANCED wrestler should have a strong commitment to wrestling, be ready to work hard and compete regularly. The cost for the 18 week session is $100. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8:15pm in the Farmington High School wrestling room. In addition to practices, ADVANCED wrestlers will participate in individual, skill-based, and team tournaments. ADVANCED wrestlers are expected to attempt to qualify for the 2017 MN/USA State Youth Wrestling Tournament, competition at this level will require the additional purchase of a MN/USA Membership CARD.
Note: The ADVANCED program is significantly more intense than the BEGINNER program. Coaches reserve the right to move wrestlers between BEGINNER and ADVANCED programs based on size, skill, work ethic, ability to follow directions and attitude.
Schedules: The official start date of the youth wrestling season is Monday 11/7/2016. As the season approaches, complete schedules will be posted on FarmingtonWrestling.com. Please note that youth wrestlers do not practice on the days in which the high school team competes at home. Instead, we encourage youth wrestlers come out and support the high school team.
Volunteer Hours Requirement: It takes a lot of teamwork to run a successful wrestling program. A volunteer check of $300 per family will be collected prior to the second week of practice. Our goal is to get more parents involved in the program not cash checks. Volunteer hours requirements are 8 hours per family with the exception of families that only have a TINY TUSSLER, in which the requirement is 4 hours. If a family does not meet the volunteer hours requirement prior to the designated date, checks will be cashed.
